If a question is asked and you do not know the answer, posting AI replies could very well harm your reputation, if it ends up messing up the system of the asking person. (At least identifying an answer as AI generated should be done)
Also needless padding of replies/questions with AI output should be avoided. (There is language models that can work on these, without introducing tons of bloat)
Personally, if I want an AI answer (very unlikely at this point for this sort of information), I would go to an AI generator.
If I want an answer based on actual knowledge and experience (or from an actual developer)/support/manager, I would ask here.
I would hope anyone posting an AI answer here would mark it appropriately so it could be recognised for what it is. I don’t see the point or value in posting that sort of information unless you are correcting it.
There’s a lot of AI answers out there that are plain wrong. We have had people come on here and said, “Well, ChatGPT told me to do this and now my NAS won’t boot.” We go, “Uh, yeah, that advice is wrong. Hope you have backups…”
So personally my preference as @dosborne says is that we get answers based on user knowledge and experience…
I’m not quite sure which part you are referring to. Speaking from my own experience, I can assure you that the responses here are written by me personally (though I do occasionally use AI for assistance, as English is not my native language, haha!).
No, please.
If you want AI answers, use AI. Let’s keep the forums free of AI.
Except, as noted, for things like translation ![]()
You’ve always provided me with great support regardless of what your native tongue is. Thank you!
