[Bug Report] Compatibility error between HDP PC Agent (v1.5.0) and HDP for PC/VM on NAS (v2.4.0) prevents restore

I’d like to ask for help regarding an issue with a version compatibility error blocking access when performing a bare metal restore (PC recovery) using QNAP Hyper Data Protector (HDP).

[Issue Description]

When I boot the target device for restore from USB (HDP PC Agent), successfully log in to the NAS and complete two-factor authentication, the following error message is displayed immediately afterward and the connection is refused:

Error message: “This version of HDP PC Agent is not compatible with the HDP for PC/VM version on your NAS. Please update HDP for PC/VM to the latest version.”

[Environment and Version Info]

  • NAS Application: Hyper Data Protector (for PC/VM) v2.4.0

  • USB Boot: HDP PC Agent v1.5.0 (latest version distributed on the official QNAP site)

  • NAS Model: TS-873AeU-RP

  • OS Version: QTS 5.2.9.3499

[What I’ve Confirmed So Far]

  1. On the NAS side, I have checked for updates in App Center, and confirmed that 2.4.0 is the newest version of “HDP for PC/VM”.

  2. On the PC Agent side, I have created the recovery USB using the latest available version (1.5.0).

  3. Despite both NAS and Agent sides being up-to-date, the Agent continues to recognize the NAS version as “incompatible (outdated)”.

[Questions and Points to Confirm]

  1. Is there a newer build (.qpkg) of “HDP for PC/VM” for NAS that is specifically compatible with HDP PC Agent 1.5.0 and published separately?

  2. Alternatively, are there any manual workaround methods to avoid the recognition mismatch between Agent 1.5.0 and HDP 2.4.0 on the NAS side?

If anyone else has faced a similar issue or knows of a solution, I’d greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Which version of HDP Recovery Media Creator are you using?
Please try again using the latest version(The current version is 1.0.1.). Hopefully that resolves your issue.
Download URL: Essentials | Utilities | QNAP

Thank you for letting me know.

Updating the HDP Recovery Media Creator to the latest version solved the issue.
