Are you satisfied with the transfer speed of the QNAP Cloud? I wouldn’t be!
QNAP cloud is not the fastest as it has to run through QNAPs severs in Taiwan. I wish they would distribute those like the do for the QNAP Cloud storage. Maybe some day.
But, the OP is not looking to use QNAPCloud for his web server. They were looking to open a hole in their firewall to the NAS itself which is a very bad idea.
For the last time (OK it won’t be my last time saying this): An SSL certificate does absolutely NOTHING to “secure” your web server. All it does is establish a secure connection between your server and whoever is connecting to it. Your webserver is still vulnerable to all kinds of possible attacks..
If anyone doubts me…
1.) Get a let’s encrypt certificate and put it on a PC running a web sever.
2.) Put that PC in your router’s DMZ
3.) See how long it takes to get infected.
Last time I accidentally did this (maybe 10 or 15 years ago), the machine was hacked and taken over in less than 3 minutes. By the time I realized I accidentally put it out on the DMZ, it was too late. I had to rebuild the entire thing.
