NAS Migration QTS 4.2 => 5.2

Hello,

I search for migration information here but did not find…

I successfully migrated from Qnap 119pII - QTS 4.2 to Qnap 453Be - QTS 5.2.9.

NAS booted without any problem, i can login with my old admin username and i can see my shared folders…

BUT i was unable to install some app : file station 5, hybrid desk station, Notification Center… these app error claim QTS 5.2 already installed…

Any help would be appreciated…

My guess is that you have not updated the firmware on the new NAS properly.

Try re-updating the firmware manually first.

That said, your storage from the migrated disk will have a limit, if you ever want to upgrade it to RAID 5 for example.
You may want to create a storage with a new empty disk, copy the data from the old disk, and remove the old storage.

Yeah, that legacy volume was not a good idea. If you do not have backups, use this opportunity to create backups and start that NAS from scratch with either a static volume or storage pool (for snapshots and other features)

Thanks for your answers !

I have a new empty hdd i put in the NAS before migration to upgrade firmware (and created a volume on it) but yes i will try to manualy upgrade.

Then if it do not work i can try one of the following :

  1. copy all my files to the new drive volume and écrase the old hdd (I hope that the new volume on the new hdd could be read after that)

  2. remove old hdd and re install firmware on the new hdd, Then plug the old hdd again (and hope I can access my files to copy on the new hdd volume)

Please do not ignore that backups..backups are done outside of the NAS

May we ask if the issue was resolved after manually reinstalling the firmware? Thanks!

YES !

I just upgraded with latest firmware (may 13) few minute ago and… everything is working fine now !

App are still updating…
