QNAP TS 130. Single bay. Migrating data to a larger HDD

QNAP TS130. Updated with the latest firmware
O.S. Windows 10
Hi.
Single-bay NAS.
There’s currently a 4 terabyte HDD.
I’d like to replace it with a 6 terabyte HDD.
How can I do this without losing existing data?
Is there a way to transfer them to the larger drive?
Thanks for your attention!

Nope, you need to replace the drive and restore from backups

Oh my!
A punishment from God…
Okay. Patience will help me.
Thank you so much for your reply!

Not sure what that means … you are rocking a single disk, you should already have backups. No amount of tots and pears would help you get your data back, when that single disk goes. (So what was/is the plan here?)

Thanks for the reply.
This is a minor backup.
I thought it was enough to copy and transfer the data to the larger disk via the USB port on the NAS and put that in the NAS.

No, the NAS will erase external drives, so that will not work

Thanks for your replies and your time.

Hi @PIetro ,

Thank you for your question.
Since the TS-130 is a single-bay NAS, it does not support online drive replacement or capacity expansion directly. To upgrade from your current 4TB drive to a 6TB one, please back up all data first, then replace the old drive and restore your data from the backup.

For detailed instructions, please refer to this FAQ:

We recommend always keeping regular backups, as single-bay NAS units cannot provide redundancy protection.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
