Thank you very much for your detailed response!
A hint or explanatory message would definitely be helpful.
Even better, though, would be the option to allow uploads via a share link for a Smart Album as well.
Wouldn’t it be practical to simply have an upload toggle for Smart Albums, together with an additional mandatory option to specify a folder on the NAS where the uploaded images should be stored?
My actual problem was that I had created an album where everyone could upload photos from the celebration, while also being able to view and download the photos.
The disadvantage was that we also had photos from a camera that were not added via the share link or the QuMagie app, but instead copied normally from a USB drive on a computer via SMB into the album’s folder. Unfortunately, a regular album does not automatically detect photos that are added directly to the folder.
That’s why I tried using a Smart Album, and that’s where the problems started.
Therefore, I think a third type of album, combining the advantages of a regular album with those of a Smart Album, would be a very useful addition.
I would also like to give a big compliment regarding QuMagie’s album sharing feature.
When a guest uploads something, they have to enter their name, and the name is then added to the beginning of the original filename. After doing quite a bit of research, I couldn’t find this feature with any other cloud provider. It is a really useful feature because it makes it very easy to identify who uploaded which files.
It would be even better if, when creating the share link, the administrator could choose whether the guest’s name should be added to the filename or not.
We also noticed another problem: when someone tries to upload more than 20 files, the page gets stuck and the files cannot be added. The page simply does not continue. Perhaps this could also be improved.
This problem also occurred when using an iPhone directly on the local Wi-Fi network, connected via 5G Wi-Fi through an ASUS TUF-AX6000 with a 2.5 GbE connection to the QNAP TS-464, accessing QuMagie through the NAS’s local IP address using the smartphone’s browser.
For reference, here are our Internet connection speeds (dual-stack):
100 Mbit/s download
40 Mbit/s upload
