QuMagie very slow to browse photo gallery

Qnap has responded to the problem (why it takes so long for thumbnails to appear and then disappear/reloading when scrolling up or down. I will post when I hear there is a solution. I have informed Qnap that this problem is present even when I have 500 photos in an album (essentially links to the large photo gallery of 24000 photos).

Qnap response:

“The issue is caused by a bug affecting QuMagie in certain circumstances, not your NAS specifically. The issue affects the handling of large photo libraries and jump navigation.

The developers are working on this bug but there is no ETA for when it can be fixed.

Currently there is no direct workaround to completely avoid this behavior but as a temporary workaround the developers suggest:

>Use Filter → Timeline to limit the browsing range (for example, selecting a specific year).
>Use Album / Folder filtering to reduce the number of photos displayed at one time.
>Avoid frequent large timeline jumps when browsing very large photo libraries.

These methods can help reduce the amount of data loaded during browsing and improve responsiveness.”

I now have Immich running under docker its performance is night and day to that of QuMagie. It has a similar feature set to QuMagie: Timeline, albums, AI face recognition, a better map than QuMagie and an Android app. I will be uninstalling QuMagie, Qsirch and LLM Core. Maybe I’ll experiment with them in the future, but for now I’m sorted. Happy to share my docker application config, if its of use.

Please share. Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I have immich running too in docker. As you say, it’s night and day (instant thumbnails). Hopefully it gets a slideshow for photos on the TV (I can connect qnap Nas directly to TV via HDMI and get it to work that way….. via a chrome connection on Nas). Also works with Chromecast.

If there is a qnap qumagie update to fix the problem, I will provide an update. Hopefully there will be as I did like it when it worked.

Same issue here as OP had. I’m moving to Photoprism - also in Container station.

Browsing and search performance is much much better.
