QVR Client Web Beta 3 Update

Thanks for your Beta 2 feedback. Beta 3 introduces major features and important fixes. Please review the notes below before testing.

What’s New & Improvements

  • Face Search: Search recorded faces or browse registered person profiles directly from the web client, now available for both QVR Center and single-server deployments.

  • Event Search: Play back event footage right where you find it — tap a snapshot for instant playback or open it in a floating mini player, with a new timeline view for browsing large result sets.

  • Smart Search: Task cards now show search progress in real time, send a notification on completion, and jump straight to results, with matches marked directly on the timeline and video.

  • AV1 & Fisheye Support: Cameras streaming AV1 are now supported, and fisheye dewarping is aligned with the desktop client, including dual panorama modes and ROI overlays.

  • Playback Controls: Redesigned for smoother speed switching, with new support for reverse playback and more stable streaming at non-standard speeds.

  • Per-Camera Audio: Each camera cell now has its own listen button, with a new setting to control whether audio auto-plays when a camera opens.

  • View Folders & E-Map Pins: Organize views into renamable, deletable folders, and pin E-Map previews in place by clicking a camera icon — drag, resize, and keep them open as you work.

  • QVR Center Parity: Server list, camera actions, event snapshots, and live notifications now work consistently across every server in a Center deployment, not just the first one.

  • Object Change Finder: Draw your own detection area instead of picking from auto-detected zones, and let the system suggest a start and end time based on available recordings.

Fixes

  • Safari Stability: Fixed crashes and freezing during live view and playback in Safari, including freezes that occurred after hardware decoding ran for an extended period.

  • Camera Decoding: Fixed decode failures caused by non-standard H.265 stream metadata, and AV1 streams failing on the first frame.

  • Camera Status Accuracy: Cameras that fail to stream are no longer reported as Camera Offline; MxPEG+ cameras now show a clear prompt to use the desktop client instead of a black tile.

  • Playback Reliability: Fixed cases where quality switching and playback speed changes were occasionally ignored.

  • Face Search Filtering: Fixed empty results when filtering person profiles by names containing Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters.

  • Localization: Fixed multiple instances of untranslated text; Event Search, Face Search, Smart Search, Export, and Object Change Finder now switch language immediately with the app’s language setting.

  • Sync After Reconnect: Fixed view and E-Map changes made elsewhere not appearing after the connection is restored.

Important Notes & Limitations

  • Firefox H.265 Limitation: Firefox’s WebCodecs API currently does not support H.265 (HEVC) decoding. Please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge if your camera streams use H.265.

  • HTTPS Required: W3C specifications require a secure context (HTTPS) for the WebCodecs API used for hardware-accelerated decoding. You must access the client via HTTPS using your NAS’s configured HTTPS port, even on local networks.

  • Installation: Please install the client via the QTS App Center. Direct integration into the QVR Surveillance app is planned for a future release.

How to Get the Beta 3 Update

I will send a direct message with the new download link to all previous Beta 2 participants.

If you haven’t joined yet and would like to participate in the Beta 3 trial, please leave a reply below, and I will provide the link to you!

Official Release Timeline

There will be no further beta releases after Beta 3. QVR Client Web 1.0.0 will be included in QVR Surveillance 3.2.0, targeted for release by the end of 2026.

Wait, do QVR Surveillance already support AV1?

I upgraded to the Beta 3 version and the updated playback controls are a big improvement. Playback speed/fast-forward is working properly for me now.

I have one feature request: could you add a true fullscreen or “video only” mode for Live View?

Ideally, when fullscreen is enabled, both the top/title bar and the bottom control bar would disappear so that the camera grid uses the entire display. The controls could reappear when the mouse is moved or fullscreen mode is exited.

My setup is NixOS using Vivaldi browser (Chromium-based), and QVR Client Web is working very well in Vivaldi, including the camera streams.

Thanks for continuing to improve the web client!

I would like to participate. We are having issues with the QVR Pro Client, so this would be a workaround.

“Your request has been heard…”

Hi! I would like to participate as well!

Where can I get the download link for the beta?

@haru0 will send you a private message with a link.
