Thank you very much for your feedback on Beta 2. Beta 3 brings important new features and key bug fixes. Please read the following notes before you start testing.
New Features & Improvements
-
Face Search: Browse recorded faces or registered person profiles directly in the web client, now available for both QVR Center and single server installations.
-
Event Search: Play event recordings right where you find them — tap a snapshot for instant playback or open it in a floating mini-player, with a new timeline view for large result sets.
-
Smart Search: Task cards now show search progress in real time, send a notification when complete, and let you jump straight to the results; hits are also marked directly on the timeline and in the video.
-
AV1 and Fisheye Support: Cameras with AV1 streaming are now supported, and fisheye dewarping matches the desktop version, including dual panorama modes and ROI overlays.
-
Playback Controls: Reworked for smoother speed switches, with new support for reverse playback and more stable streaming at nonstandard speeds.
-
Audio per Camera: Each camera tile now has its own listen button, with a new setting to automatically play audio when opening a camera.
-
View Folders & E-Map Pins: Organize views in renameable, deletable folders; E-map previews can now be pinned by clicking on a camera icon — drag, resize, and keep at your chosen position.
-
QVR Center Consistency: Server list, camera controls, event snapshots and live notifications now work consistently for all servers in a Center installation, not just the first.
-
Object Change Search: Draw the detection area yourself instead of picking from auto-recognized zones, and get suggested start and end times based on available recordings.
Bug Fixes
-
Safari Stability: Fixed crashes and freezing when viewing live and playback in Safari, including freezes after prolonged hardware decoding.
-
Camera Decoding: Fixed decoding errors caused by nonstandard H.265 stream metadata and missing first frames in AV1 streams.
-
Camera Status Accuracy: Cameras unable to stream are no longer incorrectly shown as “Camera offline”; MxPEG+ cameras now show a clear notice to use the desktop client instead of a black tile.
-
Playback Reliability: Fixed cases where quality switches and playback speed changes were occasionally ignored.
-
Face Search Filtering: Fixed empty results when filtering person profiles by names using Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters.
-
Localization: Fixed several spots with untranslated text; event search, face search, smart search, export and object change search now switch language instantly with the app language setting.
-
Sync after Reconnection: Fixed changes made to views and E-map elsewhere not showing after connection was restored.
Important Notes & Limitations
-
H.265 Limitation in Firefox: Firefox’s WebCodecs API currently does not support H.265 (HEVC) decoding. Please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge if your camera streams use H.265.
-
HTTPS Required: According to the W3C specification, the WebCodecs API used for hardware-accelerated decoding requires a secure context (HTTPS). You must access the client over HTTPS, using the HTTPS port configured on your NAS, even on local networks.
-
Installation: Please install the client via the QTS App Center. Direct integration into the QVR Surveillance app is planned for a future version.
