After stopping using my TS-212 a few years, I plugged it back to get its files containing, but I don’t remember the admin password, which is not default “admin”, so I don’t have anymore access to my datas. I tried a few ones I had been used using, but non worked.
The (multi products) manual speaks about factory reset, but I only have two buttons, one is swith on and off, and the other is a bachup button, seems nothing for the reset.
So, how to do to recover access to my datas now ? I wish they are not lost just because I forgot the admin password…?
Hello,
you can make a 3-Sek-reset
How can I reset NAS settings but keep data intact? | QNAP
How to find the NAS reset button? | QNAP
Then your admin password is
What is the default system administrator password for my NAS? | QNAP
I guess you have no backups, make sure you have backups in the future!
I started back then a process of transferring the datas into a other NAS (a drobo), but seems it has not been complete (achieved) since I have only a port of I knwo there was in the Qnap.
I now use KeePassXC to store all mypassword, so I am not susppose to risk forgetting them anymore.
thanks! still to find the rester swith, so now I klnow it is located rear… unless I finally use the nodisk process to reset.
The drobo is probably older than this 15 year old TS-212, a simple HDD should be enough for some regular backups (as the TS-212 is also limited to 16TB or less max storage per volume)
found the reset hole, it is near the network plug, did the reset and got back connection with admin/admin!
Thank you so much!
yes, it was a used drobo, 5 disks, but I neither don’t have 16Tb of datas yet.
My TS 212 had 2 2TB disks, and was so a raid 0 nas of 2 TB, and was bakc then quite full.
I was interesting in the drobo system very flexible system adding and removing disk drives.
But I needed to install a program in windows to access the data, which finally was finally not giving access with windows 10 or 11, but worked on macs, also on some linux with the AFS system.
Finallt Drobo company collapsed, so it was either unsecure and uncomfortable to continue using it.
I had copied its datas to an other NAS, this time s synology which I got from work because this equipment was replacer by a new one, but was still working good. its 4 disks rackable NAS.
the QNAP TS 212 is nice too, and smaller, I think I will upgrade it with 3tb spare disks I can get, and use it again as secondary or alternative place.
Found the reset button and had finally able to connect and access my datas! many thanks to all the contributers replying.
If it is a RAID0, you have to resetup the whole NAS up failure or upgrade (full data loss upon single drive failure or removal)
