Ordered and paid for a TS 464 from a well known online IT retailer.
Two days later got a vague email telling me it’s out of stock and to contact them.
After trying online communication and a 15 minute wait on their contact number, I eventually got through by using the business number.
I was told by a sheepish rep that there had been an issue and no they didn’t have any stock but they could order more but it would not be at the price advertised. Or I could cancel, which of course I did. Now waiting for my card to be refunded.
Disillusioned, I’ve now applied for a Qnap upgrade discount code to see if I have better luck there.
That sucks. Perhaps you should tell us the retailer name so we can avoid using them.
Good luck on your purchase. I bought my new NAS from Amazon FYI. It seems like all the prices are generally the same across different e-commerce platforms.
The upgrade code is a great idea. I didn’t know about it when I bought my TS-873A. Wish I would have known…
I will do that as the following response from the retailer didn’t help…
I am truly sorry for this and fully understand your frustration regarding the matter.
Unfortunately, the item is out of stock in our warehouse, and prices on our website are subject to daily changes.
I hope you understand.
The fact that I paid for the NAS as the advertised price and the retailer didn’t honour it isn’t good practice.
We’ve received your email regarding the upgrade discount code application.
Our colleagues in the UK will first help to understand the situation. If there’s anything you need my assistance with, please feel free to contact me via private message on the forum. Thanks!
My thanks to QNAP UK for coming to the rescue and helping sort this out. A new TS 464 arrived this morning and the HDs from my old TS 251+ were transferred.
No thanks to Laptops Direct for their poor service.
