Security Center AV Updates Notification

When I run the security checkup, I get frequent alerts for “Are enabled antivirus services using the latest virus definitions?”. However, ClamAV only allows me to configure it to check for updates once a day and I assume definitions are updated hourly or so which causes it go stale every day.

I’m disabling this monitor to avoid nuisance notifications but can we get an update to allow us to specify an age in definitions before we get notified? I would like to set it so it only notifies if the virus definitions are more than 2 days old.

Can we also get an update to configure ClamAV to check for definition updates more frequently?

As far as I know not with QNAP settings.

If you are familiar with SSH and Linux you can create a script and add it to cron daemon. Then you can configure it as you like.

But to be honest: I did disable/uninstall the whole Security Center as it produces more harm than good.

Security center does not produce harm. That’s not really accurate. We can debate if it is effective or does much. But that’s different.

Back to the OPs questions, I have never seen this issue and I run ClamAV and security center checks all the time. I don’t know how often Clam updates the definitions.

How often are you running security checkup?

Hi, we’ve tried multiple times but haven’t been able to reproduce the issue on our end. Could you please provide a screenshot of your Security Center settings? Also, do you have a Power Schedule enabled on your NAS? Thanks!
