Slow network performance since QuTS hero h5.2.5.3138

I have a Ts-464 with 16 GB of ram. After I updated to the new release of QuTs, my large MKV files (10-40 GB) have know started buffering in Plex. It may be a coincidence but I have a hunch I’ll need to go to 32 GB of ram if I want to view 2160p movies without buffering.

Hi All,

I have an update from QNAP:-
The R&D has reported that this was a side effect of a certain command that was not parsing a value correctly. They have fixed this in h5.2.6.3162_20250612.
When h5.2.6.3162_20250612 is released, please update the NAS and you should not experience the performance issue any longer.

Thank you for posting this. I was seriously considering adding more RAM to see if that would resolve the slow data transfer.

No, I downloaded the latest and greatest from the Plex website and did a manual install.

I use the instructions in NASCompares video and QNAP video to manually install.

I’m hoping it’s the latest QuTS release I installed since it started when I played one of my large movie files after the update was installed.

5.3.x is currently a RC, so you’re basically beta testing … 5.2.x would be the ‘latest’

Like I posted earlier I have already upgraded to Hero 5.3. I was advised by customer service “do not” downgrade the 5.2. I will keep checking the Web Download page to see if there’s an update to 5.3 I’m now at 22% at 30MB/s after a week.

I encountered a similar issue with my TS-873A as well. A fixed version was provided later, so I recommend requesting it from the staff.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for responding. My version of Plex is the same as your screen shot.

I have opened a support ticket and will update this stream if or when there is a resolution from QNAP.

Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Everyone.

QNAP support offered me a new version of the software to test, h5.2.5.3161, and I can confirm the performance has returned with this version.
I would imagine a public version will be available soon.

Same problems here with TS-873A and QTS 5.3.x update - thnx guys for sharing the inforation. After getting back to 5.2.x all works fine again.

A new firmware version has been released for the X73A and X73AU series. Please try updating to this new version to see if it resolves your issue.
Thank you!

after installing QTS 5.2.5.3162 on TS-873A i can confirm upload again at 250m/s.

thnx to SteveKo

This still won’t help me. I should never had updated to h5.3.

Just updated to h5.3.0.3192 build 20250716. Does anyone know if this update addresses the transfer speeds. I didn’t see any mention of a fix notes.
