TS-435E & TS-119 PII: Connectivity to generic USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 external hard drive:

TS-435E & TS-119 PII: Connectivity to generic USB3.1 external hard drive:

Issue: It is my understanding, based upon a response to a previous post of mine, that the TR-002A cannot communicate via a direct USB connection to the TS-119 PII (This due to the fact The TR-002 A can only be connected to a QNAP NAS with at-least QTS 4.3.6 and the final firmware available for the TS-119PII is QTS 4.3.3).

Question: Instead of using the TR-002A, can I copy data from the TS-119 PII to a hard drive in a “generic” USB 3.0 (or USB 3.1 or USB 3.2).external hard drive enclosure (such as an ORICO USB 3.1, Sabrent USB 3.1 or Rosewill USB 3.0), then connect this external hard drive enclosure, using a generic USB cable, to the USB 3.2 port on the TS-453E? (The generic USB cable would be rated for at least USB 3.1 and, more likely, USB 3.2)

Thank you

Sure you can..at that point it’s the same as an external backup disk.

Just make sure the disk is smaller than 16TB, otherwise the old x19 unit will not be able to read it.

Thank you!
