TS-473A QTS TPU adding Drive Caching on QM2-2P-244A/QM2-2P-344A expansion cards

Simple(?) question:
With a TS-473A, I want both SSD Caching AND TPU support.

  1. will TPUs work on the M.2 expansion cards (Transparently)?
  2. if a QM2-2P-344A is utilized - is it better to put the SSD drives or the TPUs on the M.2 expansion card?
  3. Can multiple TPUs be used together on the QM2-2P-344A card?
  4. will the QM2-2P-244A be sufficient for the TPUs from s/w Compatibility?
    a) TPU are single type 2 channels

Please forget about cache on QTS devices (destaging is broken)

You can switch to QuTS if you want better (and working) cache

I can testify to this. I bought two 1tb ssd’s (raid1) to cache a 19tb raid5 on a TVS-h1288x. It slowed to a crawl (QTS).

Well - Never mind - the question revealed that the the TS-473A M.2 slots are Gen3x1, so putting an SSD in there is a bad move - they get the TPU.

In the meantime - now I have to figure out how to move the OS/Apps stuff off the SSD on one of the M.2s… :scream: :face_with_spiral_eyes:

For anyone who cares,
Put in a QM2-2P-344A and simply moved the PCIe SSD from a system board slot to the Gen3x4 M.2 card and it launched - Much improved

Moral of this story is DO NOT ASSUME that the M.2 is high speed. For the TS-473At, it’s a PCIE Gen3x1 which is the same performance as a PCIe Gen1x4

I would assume that Cache is a similar issue - without all four channels, the Caching would be pretty lame.
