2 days ago, I began to set up Qfiling on my TS673A. I am using a scansnapIX2500 to scan documents. After setting up the ScanSnap to sync with the NAS I did a test scan, and all went well. I took a break for 3 hours and when I came back, I could not sign in to the NAS via Qfinder. All lights on the NAS were blinking green. I could not log in via my iPhone. I am running QuTS hero 6.0. There was no power loss to unit or my home. The IP address of the unit had not changed and there had been no interruption with the router or Wi-Fi. The NAS is on a network with my PC hardwired at 10 Gb off a Qnap network switch. The unit is hooked into an APC unit. I did a reboot by pushing power button on the unit until I heard a single beep. All blinking green lights went out and now there is a single green light flashing “Status”. I attempted to call support but not available on the weekend. The unit is now blinking green Status light. I place a report with service but have not heard back. This unit is backed up to a TS-433. Any ideas or thoughts?
Any QuFirewall stuff enabled, that could have locked you out?
A 3 second reset should help
I had no previous issue logging in prior to this incident. No changes had been made to my original QuTS apps or firmware. I did the 3 second reset and that is when all the green lights over the drives went out and left me with a single blinking green “Status light”. I have been reading that I should remove the Drives and then try and reboot. I was waiting on support to get back to me. I had planned on scanning Docs into the NAS this weekend but that will have to wait.
It could be rebuilding / checking your unspecified RAID array?
I’d leave it for a while to see what happens, depending on your disk configuration. You can also trying logging in via SSH to see if you can check on the status.
Flashing green is better than some of the other options ![]()
Removing the drives for reset does nothing as the OS is on the drives
And you are aure you did the reset with the pinhole button on the back?
Thank you for your reply. It has been 48 hours blinking green “Status”, so I think there is a problem.
What is your disk configuration?
RAID 6, I did not do a reset with the pin hole in the back.
Number of, Model and size of the drives?
Did you try SSH?
6 WD Red Pro 16 TB drives. I did not try SSH. Going to do 3 sec pin hole reset now.
No luck with reset.
If you can access the NAS via SSH, try a cat /proc/mdstat to check your system RAIDs (the rest are in ZFS)
I do have 2x32 gb SSD’s installed.
What are the dangers of disconnecting the power to the unit and then powering back up?
Ignore disconnecting power question as I am not doing that. I will until Monday to hopefully get help from Tech support.
Thanks for the feedback! Our support team will assist you based on your ticket. If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know. Thanks!
Support was able to get me back up and running. Could not determine why I could not log into the device. I did find out why I could not power down the unit. I have it plugged into a UPS unit. When I turned off the UPS, I was able power down the TS 673A normally. I had no loss of data. If the event of not able to sign in again occurs I have a pretty good idea now of how to manage the issue. Thanks to folks who tried to help me.
If there is a “next time”, I strongly suggest step 1 being that you try to access the NAS via SSH to verify what it is doing BEFORE trying a reset or forcing a power down. Significantly safer for your data. It would be a really good idea to test the access while the NAS is functioning properly so you know it works and what to expect if you need to do it.
Good thought and recommendation, I will do it. Thanks
I just wanted to follow up and see if your document scanning task was completed successfully? Thanks!
