I’m only quotting what a search says…ie:

  • SATA 2 (SATA II): Max theoretical bandwidth of 3 Gbps (approx. 300 MB/s). Introduced in 2004, it is sufficient for most HDDs and older SSDs.

  • SATA 3 (SATA III): Max theoretical bandwidth of 6 Gbps (approx. 600 MB/s). Introduced in 2009, it is the standard for modern high-speed SSDs.

I have no real idea or the ability to test drives to their fullest extent.

You are mixing up Megabytes and Megabits, up there you were converting Megabyte again to Megabyte, deflating the theoretical values.

You may as well close this discussion. It doesn’t seem to br getting better. At this point I’ve had 3 different sets of disks in the NAS. Even tried a 4 disk Raid 10 which should be a little faster, but it’s down in the 7-8 MB/s.. I don’t imagine you can get sata 3 speeds from a sata 2 board, so, it will get turned into more of an offline backup of the 4 drive Nas I have.
