Upcoming Launch: QVR Surveillance 3.0 about what’s Changing ...

There is nothing free in the store perpetual and subscription….

I uninstalled / install back QVR Surveillance and now licence are there.

@Alaska99 I installed a new environment, and it should have at least a Build-in 2 channel by default, but your screenshot shows 0…

There seems to be something wrong with your environment. Could you open a Support Ticket let technical team can arrange a remote connection for the RD team to check what happened directly?

After reinstalling, now licenses are there.

I tested it on my new TS433-4gand it is very shitty. My WansView Q3 is working perfectly in DS Surveillance on Synology DS413j. QNAP is not hable to handle the minimum :

  • For home surveillance, it is too complex.
  • Continuous recording is producing 300 smalls videos (250kb each) each hour instead of one big one
  • Motion detection is not working. When I set detection on Surveillance instead of my camera, I have a message telling me “For motion detection to work, ensure that at least one of the streams is set to a resolution higher than CIF.”. But in setting, my resolution is clearly 1280x720, far over CIF.

Switching between native WansView Q3 model and ONVIF S profile in “add camera” doesn’t change this buggy behaviour.

Please fix this app !

@bananas 300 files per hour means one file every 12 seconds, but the minimum option in the settings page is 1 minute.

Could you help to check the Surveillance Log to see if there are any stream disconnection records for this camera?

Or you can create a Support Ticket in Customer Service website to liet the Support team can arrange a remote connection for the RD team to check the issue directly.

This bug has been fixed in the next version, sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, there is several diconection in log. They are visible in the UI too because the preview image sometime fails.
This didn’t happened with Syno

Curious for the connection status.

Are you currently connect both Syno SS and QVR to the same camera now?

Nope. I migrated a couple of weeks ago, the Syno is off. But the WansView iOS app has no trouble. The disconnections happens even if WansView is not connected.

I cannot see the QVR Surveillance 3.0 on my TS216Gs app store. In desperation I installed the Elite in hopes that it will turn into QVR Surveillance 3.0 at one point - but no. Why can I not get the QVR Surveillance 3.0? Is it just because I am noobie on QNAP? My NAS 216G? Or my location Finland? Or something else?

What version of QTS are you running?

Hi @Duugi the TS-216G should can see QVR Surveillance on its App Center

https://www.qnap.com/en-us/app-center?os=qts&version=5.2.9&model=ts-216g&type=Surveillance

Like @NA9D said, could you help to check your QVR version? it required QTS 5.2.0 and later it is normal to only see QVR Elite on QTS 5.1.x.

Thank you both! This solved it 1) i thought that it had updated to latest firmware as I had set autoupdate - but it wasnt and 2) the app was not available on the NAS, but the link you provided worked.

Hey Guys, this all is a bit confusing for me (So many different Surveillance apps :/) but ok I think i got it eventually and i installed QVR Surveillance on to my NAS with QuTS hero 6.x. I managed to set up both of my cameras (licence shows 8 channels I used 2, 6 more left so that part is OK).
Cameras are fixed IP in my LAN (PoE) and they use ONViF (Reolink 4K PTZ cameras, 2 pieces).

All seems to be working at first glance, recordings are 4K H265 and Motion detection is done by Cameras not App. I see files in to folders (although i don’t like that on ZFS folder has to be “RecSpace_1798FDFA35004C56A9E11599A40A1828”.
I expected to use my own folder names for each camera so i can have Camera_Front, Camera_Back, Camera_Garage… etc. etc…
I guess it’s “ZFS feature” ?
Can that be changed somehow ?

Next thing that I don’t understand is Quality for recordings, I have settings for quality and it has 6 modes but Whatever I set and Apply. Once I go to Edit it’s back to Quality1 (poor) ??? It doesn’t want to STICK to Quality 6(better). Is that a BUG or some weird feature?

Next problem is Mobile App (Android 16).
I can’t find QNAP Surveillance app (so many change of names/obsolete/depreciated apps in this chat) and it offers me QVR Pro Client app.
Ok i installed that and after several retries it finally accepted my login and logged to my NAS after 30-35 seconds of that progress circle running and saying “connecting”.

After it finally let me in i tried to play back recorded videos, and it is very, very slow/sluggish, constant “reconnecting” and playback is rubbish, totally unusable..

I use same cameras on same network on My Synology and DS-Cam app connects to my NAS in 5 seconds and I can drag playtime like i’m on local PC, smooth and no problem no reconnecting no dropping frames all is gliding nice.

So Why is QNAP app so bad/slow? Are there some settings I need to tweak to make it work smoothly?

Phone is Samsung S25 Ultra.
My Internet speed at NAS location is 2Gbit down 1Gbit up
NAS is Ts-h2477AUX-7-32G which is like 8x more powerfull than my 5 years old Synology RS1221+ with Ryzen V1500N CPU so it should be FLYING through recordings smooth as silk :).

Thanks

So QVR Pro is the correct mobile app. Check how you are connecting to the NAS. If you are connecting via MyQNAPCloud, it will be very slow. I have a VPN and connect over it to my NAS when out or directly on my LAN when home. I run QVR Surveillance on a lowly TS-451 and while it is slow, it is acceptable. You system should be WAY better than that. It should be pretty quick.

As far as the recording controls, I have seen the same thing you have. I’m guessing it’s because you are using ONVIF. If you are actually using a camera driver, then QVR Pro is able to communicate with the camera directly and can do more things such as request a better quality stream, etc. I don’t know if QNAP has direct Reolink drivers, but if they do, I would try using one of those and see if you can set that. Do you really need super high quality recordings for security video?

As for the hexadecimal file name, I believe that is just the way QVR Surveillance does it. My TS-451 can only run QTS and it has file names the same way. You should be able to set up multiple storage spaces and I think you can rename them whatever you want. My TS-451 is just abysmally slow trying to make changes so I don’t mess with it much. But you can set up separate recording spaces for each camera and name them what you want. Then in Channel Management you set the recording space you use for each channel. So it is pretty flexible.

@haru0 from QNAP is on the forum here pretty regularly. I believe they are like the program manager or director for QVR Surveillance. Feedback gets handled pretty quickly.

Hi @Lewis for the Quality of camera settings, the team has confirmed that is a bug with Reolink cameras and trying to fix it.

For the mobile app connecting time issue, we have improved it in the next version 2.9.0 and it is already in release testing. I can provide the APK for you to test if you are interested.

Hey guys. thanks for feedback.

@NA9D - yes i use MyQNAPconnect to access it over internet and i know that is slower, but I use same on Synology (their version of it) and have no problem with speed in app or reconnecting, and it’s smooth as butter on my phone. Sure if I want o upload/download big files then i see it’s capped/limited on speed but for DS station and looking Synology it’s adequate fast with no visible lag. So I wasn’t messing up with VPN (but it seems I’ll have to do now :().

@haru0 - Good you found that bug and it’s me going crazy :).
As for new version APK yes, please feel free to send me new QVR Pro APK which I can test.

@Lewis - I don’t know where Synology has their servers for their version of MyQNAPConnect. For QNAP, however, you have to pass through their cloud architecture in Taiwan. It is absolutely not the fastest and they have not regionalized their architecture (I wish they would).

You will get better results if you set up a VPN and connect directly to your home network.

Are we sure it all goes through Taiwan ? You would think QNAP is using some cloud infrastructure akin to a CDN.

Synology QuickConnect is also using their relay and Synology is also Taiwanese company but who knows, maybe they have more relays across the continents.
But I know it’s very good even through relay for DS-cam software on my phone.
Perhaps their phone app somehow uses low resolution (on the phone only) i.e. on the fly transcoding to make it super sleek and easy-fast to drag timeline.
But then again I have UniFi Dream Machine SW router/switch/protect(cam recording) device and even their software for camera recording works fine online though UI application on my phone even with single HDD (only one slot).
So obviously, there is way to do it fast in Phone app

So I’m looking forward to @haru0 to send me newer APK. Maybe that’s the key part here.

BTW slightly off-topic, I’ve got some answers to my other few TICKET/reports in to the system (AI agent mostly with one exception) but it references that two of my ask are available in QuTS hero 6.1?
Where do I download that? My NAS only found 6.0.2xxx version.
Since I’m still not using this NAS in production I’m willing to try beta releases as well if necessary :).
