Weird bug in Samba Access logging

Has anyone else seen this before or can confirm by creating a similar username and see if it happens ?

User’s name as example is : Something Diaz
The user has a default automatic home folder at /share/MD0_DATA/homes/sdiaz
The user’s app is set to save files to \10.10.x.x.\home using their credentials

The entries should write to access logs.csv and show on webpage the “Accessed Resources” should be :
sdiaz/offers/file128.pdf”

Instead they are showing as :
USBDiskaz/offers/file128.pdf”

It’s as if the first 3 letters sdi (note that /sdi/ is some kind of system folder) are being substituted for ‘USBDisk’ when the log is written. This username only has this issue so far, just an unlucky combination that matches some system thingy.

The files are in the correct place. There is no such USBDisk folder on the entire QNAP using the locate command; nor find command.Unit does not now (nor ever that I know of have any USB device plugged into it either)

(aware MD0 is older; don’t want to connect user to newer until I confirm it’s a harmless bug)

As a sidenote, MD0_DATA points to a very old CAT1 legacy NAS, so even if this is a bug, QNAP will not fix any operational bugs in these NAS anymore.

Thanks for your report! We’ve confirmed this issue and will be rolling out a fix.

Thank you.

Can you please disclose your NAS model? If it’s EOL (hence my comment) your NAS might not get an updated version
