10 minute pings to update.qnap.com

Hey there,
Somewhat as the title states, my QNAP NAS likes to ping for updates every 10 or so minutes and now it wont put the drives in power save mode.

Specs:
QNAP TS-230 - Firmware: QTS 5.2.7.3297 - 2025/10/24
Single port - no virtual adapters

I dont expect it to be disk related but just incase:

2x Seagate HDD 3.5" 8TB ST8000DM004 Barracuda - JBOD

As you can see in the screenshot it keeps pinging, the firmware is the latest one, and I even set the “Auto update settings” to dont auto update, notify me

And when I say check for updates; it tells me its up to date.

Can someone please help, since my drives are now 24/7 active and I really dont want that!

The ping shall not cause the disk keep awake. What other services you are running?

Thats whats running when I open the WebUI, and when I sort on whats running and sleeping, that was the only thing popping up.

(Im also fairly new to Qnap, as you can prop tell, so if you want to see something specific or such, do ask  )

As the OS is on all drives..any log writes, etc will keep the drives active

True, I didnt think about that one!

Thanks for the help, happy to know that the ping for update doesnt keep the system active!
