I need a brand new NAS in mid-to-late 2025

From the second half of this year to early next year, I need a brand new NAS to replace my current DAS, Cloud Storage, USB Drive, and PC, in order to centralize all my data, files, confidential documents, images, videos, document version control, and centralized backup management with backup version control.

I need a four-bay or six-bay NAS, capable of running at least RAID-5 or RAID-6 disk arrays, with dual SODIMM memory slots (expandable up to a total of 16GB or 32GB), a PCIe expansion slot for installing a dual-port 10GbE network card (requiring both 2.5GbE and 10GbE network connectivity for simultaneous use), and two sets of 2TB M.2 SSDs in RAID-1 for cache space to work with Qtier automatic tiered storage operations. As for the CPU, it should be equipped with the latest generation Intel® Pentium® Silver N6005 quad-core processor or a higher configuration to cope with the rapid development of AI. Which QNAP model currently meets or fulfills all my above requirements?

  • Maximum total memory up to 16GB or 32GB
  • Add dual-port 10GbE network card
  • Two sets of 2TB M.2 SSD RAID-1 cache space for use with Qtier automatic tiered storage operation
  • Intel® Pentium® Silver N6005 quad-core processor or higher configuration

Excluding the 673A with AMD CPU (Ryzen V1500), compared to the 466C (Pentium N6005) which just fits the requirements, I would recommend the higher-end h674 (Core i3) since you’ll be using it for a long time and it’s safer to reserve some extra performance.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have also tried using AI analysis to find answers, but AI is still just AI—actual user feedback is the most reliable. I have also considered the TS-x64 series; aside from the CPU configuration, its internal hardware setup is already comprehensive, and it also allows for memory upgrades and M.2 NVMe SSD upgrades with dual 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and expansion cards. However, since it uses the older Intel® Celeron® N5095 quad-core/4-thread processor, with a maximum turbo frequency of 2.9 GHz, I decided not to consider it further.
