I would like to make the backend of my Access database availlable to link with the frontend via a QNAP TS-112 NAS.
Publishing anything on your NAS to the internet outside of using a Container is not recommended.
And as the TS-112 is a 16 year old low power NAS, no containers are possible
Also what exactly is your QNAP WebGUI frontent supposed to to with your acdb?
Iām aware the NAS is old and publishing to the internet is a potential problem, but the only data on the NAS is this small Access backend. The reson is that I would like to connect the frontend of twoor three different persons, who are not in the same local network, to this backend. They will see the same data. We are a group of volunteers who do education projects with young children. You might have a better solution for me.
Setting up a VPN on your router (or Raspberry Pi, etc) would be a much more secure and relatively easy thing to do. It would give the remote users access and nothing would have to change on your NAS.
