Add external device partition management to QTS UI

Hi QNAP folks.

I think it’s time QTS had the ability to manage partitions on external devices through the web UI.

This should include: wipe current partition table, create new partition table (GPT, MBR), create/delete individual partitions, resize partitions & filesystems, format individual partitions with selected filesystems, check & repair filesystems, and so-on.

Please consider adding this to QTS.

Hi Steve, I don’t have a specific use case in mind, but I could invent a few scenarios if that would help? :wink:

This is something I felt should have been possible since acquiring my first QNAP NAS in 2011. I was initially surprised to find it wasn’t possible.

The current requirement to configure partitions on another device before connecting to the NAS is cumbersome.

To be able to properly manage partitions on a storage device isn’t much of an ask.
