Adding Raid Group on Expansion unit to a Storage Pool on NAS

I have a TVS-h874 (running QuTS Hero 5.2.4.3079) set up as 1 Raid 6 group making up 1 storage pool, I am planning on adding a TL-D800C expansion unit. This NAS is used primarily for backup (2 other QNAP NASes, 1 desktop, and 2 laptops). My original plan was to make a new Raid group on the D800C and expand the existing storage volume on the NAS to encompass both Raid groups. This is based the QNAP knowledge base page titled " Expanding a storage pool by adding a new RAID group" (Expanding a storage pool by adding a new RAID group | QTS 5.2.x), which seems to state that this can be done. However, the TL-D800C page at the QNAP site states: “The TL-D800C can only be used as an individual storage pool or volume on the NAS. Its storage pool/volume cannot be combined into the connected NAS.” This last seems to state that my plan cannot be done. Can someone tell me which is accurate. Can a storage group on a TVS-h874 be expanded to include a Raid group on a TL-D800C expansion unit? A follow on question would be: Is this a good plan to start with? All thoughts greatly appreciated.

Yes, enclosures or VJBOD cannot be added to existing pools/volumes. You can only create a new pool/volume
