I’ve have an outdated TS-469 Pro, 4 bay raid 5 setup that has aprox 3TB of data (total 6 TB avaialble) that I want to replace since it no longer can be updated and the HDs are old. There’s so many options, I’m now retired and only need it for starage so I don’t need the lastest and greatest. Can I get some recommendations on what to buy and setup? I like raid 5 but open to suggestions (always used this) and don’t need more than 5-6TB and not running it as a server but still enjoy the server s/w part instead of a dumb storage device.
I would go with the TS-462A. It is new, but that’s really the best in small home NAS. And as it’s an Intel product you should be able to upgrade pretty easily.
Also, do not forget backups.
Many home users mistake a RAID for a backup, but that is not the case
I am very happy with my 464. I migrated from 251 which is still in service. Reliable and does what it is told.
youre right, I was thinking of using the older unit as a backup, and possibly cloud too, would’ve been ideal if it could handle images but I believe it can’t.
thank you for your advice I’ll look it up.
