Wondering if / when QNAP is going to publish the utilities - especially Qfinder - for apple silicon. Yeah yeah, I know about Rosetta. I have not installed it, and plan to never do so, for a variety of reasons. M1 has been out for years now, I am surprised QNAP is so far behind on building for it.
Hi @Armin I asked the Qfinder team and they told me that the current Qfinder doesn’t make a difference between Intel chips and Apple Silicon chips.
Have you had any problems using Qfinder on Apple Silicon devices?
Thank you for your response! I have a Macbook Pro M4 Max. I downloaded Qfinder and tried installing it. MacOS intervened saying I would need to install Rosetta to run Qfinder, so I canceled because Rosetta will NOT EVER be installed on my computer. Maybe the wrong binary is posted on your site, or the machine your people test on already has rosetta installed. Either way, I can tell you with confidence that the Qfinder I downloaded from your site is not compatible with apple silicon.
Qfinder 7.11.3, which is currently on the website, can run on my M1 without any problems. I thought the CPU architecture on M1 and above would be the same, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
I will report this matter to the Qfinder team and thank you for letting us know this.
Thanks for looking into it. I don’t know enough about the architecture, so it could be a generational thing. I appreciate your efforts, and look forward to utility app updates.
