Hello.
I have a similar problem.
The NAS only has one network connection to the router. Checking if a new firmware is available for download works. But when you click on Update, a message appears saying that this is not possible and that I should check the network settings.
At the moment, I always do a manual firmware download and installation.
IP settings with DHCP or static make no difference. No virtual switch.
I can connect to the NAS via SSH and successfully execute a ping to 8.8.8.8 or Google or QNAP.
[~] # ping www.qnap.com

My TS-253E has been doing this since I installed it.
Does anyone have an idea about this?
Thanks.
