Hi All,
I have a hybrid mounted SMB:\ shared from a netapp server,
I am trying to see if there is some way to backup the smb:\share to to QNAP or maybe an external S3 bucket,
Has anyone had any luck with this? all advise welcome thanks.

you should be able to use HBS3 backup application on the QNAP NAS. select your SMB share as a Storage Space (select Remote CIFS/SMB Server) and setup the remote netapp smb share and then schedule backups that way.
Hi Thanks for answering,
In HBS, the source can only be selected as local NAS and destination remote SMB CIF etc.
but i need it as
Mounted remote SMB shared to be backed up to the LOCAL QNAP NAS.
I would like to backup the File server to my QNAP to protect some files that user seem to be deleting.
Create an Active sync job. use the “storage space” (remote smb) as the source.
