Behavior of Network Failover in QES

Hi.

I am considering purchasing the ES1686 model but am unclear about the behavior of network failover during a controller failure based on the manual. If anyone has insights, please share.

For example, if Controller A’s eth0 is configured with a CIFS IP and Controller A fails, will Controller B’s eth0 inherit this IP and take over the service?

The QES 2.2 manual does not seem to mention settings for virtual IPs or specifying NICs for failover.

Regarding communication over eth0 used for CIFS when Controller A (or its NIC) fails:

  1. Is failover even possible in a way that ensures service continuity during a failure? Can CIFS continue operating when a controller failure occurs?

  2. If failover does occur, is it necessary to specify the NIC on Controller B in advance, or is it selected automatically?

  3. Is it required to have identical port configurations on both Controller A and B to facilitate failover?

Any guidance on these points would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.
2. Is failover even possible in a way that ensures service continuity during a failure? Can CIFS continue operating when a controller failure occurs?

Yes, you may need to wait a minute or so.

  1. If failover does occur, is it necessary to specify the NIC on Controller B in advance, or is it selected automatically?

Automatically.

  1. Is it required to have identical port configurations on both Controller A and B to facilitate failover?

Identical.

Thank you for your advice.
