Got a new TS-233. Want to use NetBak to back up computers. But I need to install Hyper Data Protector first. However it does not appear in the app store. How do you do this?
see here
System requirements: x86-based NAS (Intel or AMD); 4GB RAM (or more); QTS 4.5.4 (or later) or QuTS hero h4.5.4 (or later)
Your NAS will not work as it’s a limited feature ARM unit.
Oh. How nice. So it was a waste of $300. Yet it’s sold as a personal cloud backup unit.
That is a catchy term, but all QNAP NAS are sold with this designation.(And it would still work as a personal cloud backup… just not as a free virtualisation backup initiator)… That’s why there is that note on this apps web page.
So if I get something like the TS-262, which uses a Celeron processor, can I then use the NetBak App and Hyper Data Protector?
With your current NAS you can already use Netback Replicator
But yes, a TS-262 is compatible with HDP and Netback PC Agent
ditch netbak then and Create a share on your NAS for backups. then use something like veeam agent for windows (its free) - it just works.
