Categories

Greetings,
I’ve been a member for 12 yrs. I see two listing under categories in foreign languages. I assume these are Mandarin and Cantonese. My language selection is English and is my browser. Do we ignore these sections? There doesn’t appear to be an easy way to interact with these topics.

Thanks

I am proposing something like the Plex forum
https://community.qnap.com/t/basic-categories-for-the-new-forum/188

They have different categories and some sub forums for other languages, but I am fairly sure that English would be the main language to interact with here. (Chinese and Japanese would be Sub Sub categories … like on the Plex forums)

move your mouse cursor over the “Categories” word, you will see a pencil over to the right of the word. click to edit, then select ALL categories you want to see, then Save Changes

Simple.

I’ve changed the category setting but the non English posts remain.

Thanks Simon, that works great!

The posts will still be shown, but the non-English categories will be hidden.

It’s a start.

Except they aren’t…

My bad for not being clear: the categories will be hidden in the navigation menu on the left of the site.

Hi @Spile
Regarding your question, we just adjusted the settings so that only posts from the same category will now be recommended. Posts in other languages will no longer be recommended in New & Unread Topics

We sincerely appreciate your feedback, which helps make our community better :grinning:.

Still getting non English posts…

I also muted tracking for the non-English topics: Profile → Preferences → Tracking → Categories → Muted → then add all non-English categories one at a time.

I can’t see a tracking option in Profile > Preferences

I’ve highlighted it here with a red rectangle:

I was using a tablet (Chrome on iPad) and was unable to find the tracking option. From my desktop PC I found it and added the non English topics to Muted
Thanks
