Compatible memory for TVS-h1688x

I’ve run several batches of Server RAM which have been stated to be compatible but so far, dmesg seems to bark at times for bad cache after swapping out to replacement ram modules. So had to role back to original ram.
Even the vendor I obtained memory did specify same part no as shown in QNAP’s compatibility list.

The leads me to a question as there has never ever been any updated list of compatible ram for this unit listed on QNAP’s on website. The original ram which came with my device was Kingston RAM so I would of thought using same part no series but larger modules would work but that didn’t work out.

Anyone had to upgrade their ram (max 128GB) and if so, which brand/part no. was used.

Thanks for anyone sharing their experience

Just for Reference Info
QNAP will post only QNAP
https://www.qnap.com/en-us/compatibility/?model=499&category=33
They will list strictly for QNAP:
RAM-16GDR4ECT0-UD-3200
RAM-32GDR4ECT0-UD-3200
RAM-8GDR4ECP0-UD-2666
RAM-8GDR4ECI0-UD-3200
RAM-4GDR4ECP0-UD-2666
RAM-32GDR4ECK0-UD-3200

Yet the irony is ram that came with unit is Kingston

The only stuff I use, I prefer the Hynex but Micron works too, I have 128gb in my TVS-h1688x and 64gb in my TVS-h1288x.

I have 2x of these modules in my 1288X (in addition to the 2x 8GB that came with it)

Works fine for over 3 years now.

Thanks for the feedback Franklin.
The one thing which I’ve notices is the board specs for the 1288x and 1688x are different… so if you don’t mind me asking if you’re running same ram on each?

Would you have the part no by chance?

Hey Dolby… now there’s a familiar name
Out of curiosity should you ever have time, mind confirming actual part number of the kingston ram you got for it matches link you shared. I did grab some kingston server ram initially because of what came initially with the unit but diag reported mem cache errors when they were being used.

Thank you kindly,

I used the product code from the invoice

I got that RAM from a topic on the old forums…worked fine for me

The link I posted has the Kingston part numbers. 1688 4 x 32 gb micron chips (no longer made), 1288 4 x 16 gb hynex chips (KSM32ES8/16HC).

Thanks… I will give it another go then… and see what happens… Looks like Kingston has the Server Premier ram so might try this one out.

And yes, the motherboards are completely different between the 2 models-for example not a single video card can work in both.
