I use Version 3.0.9.1038 (2024/11/08) of container station and have a gitlab application which consists 3 Containers, 3 volumes. I read the offical qnap doc’s they say “stop the containers and back them up before update the overlay driver” but export is grayed.
First question is how likely is it that updating the overlay driver will destroy my containers ? And second how can I back up an application ? When I create a single container from an simple linux image the “export” menu is not grayed, but when I create an application it is.
With compose you just backup your compose file and the (hopefully) defined static locations/volumes where your data is written to.
The data can be backed up via HBS3 and the compose can just be executed again to pull everything back up.
It is 7 years ago, now I would make it different but I’m afraid the data is in the container where the progress-db resides. How are the chances that updating the overlay driver goes through without destroying the containers ?
Might be best to open a ticket with QNAP.
Ok, Last question Did you use containerstation and update the overlay driver in your NAS ?
I use container station (on half a dozen NAS) , but I have not had any offers to update any drivers of any sort, just container station itself (and container station updates have never killed my containers)
No, never seen this message (no matter if my UI is set to German or not, btw always switch your UI to English before posting screenshots in an English forum, or check here )
There is an info page here
My guess is I have never seen this, as I have no ancient never updated containers running, so that’s probably why this was never displayed (I have always destroyed and rebuild mine)
