I’ve installed EMBY server and Jellyfin server (don’t ask WHY i want them both ;)) on my QuTS hero 6.1 public beta and since those two apps are similar (Jellyfin is opensource fork of EMBY) they both want to open at Port 8096.
Ok that’s fine, then I go to emby settings/network and change port to 8196 instead default 8096.
All seems Ok/saed, BUT on QuTS hero Desktop EMBY icon still want’s to open it as port 8096 instead 8196, so when i clikc Emby icon it opens Jellyfin since that’s on port 8096.
So my question is HOW can i FORCE Qnap Icon to open proper port instead being hardcoded ? surelly that can’t be limitaiton of QuTS hero to hardcode such simple thing - right?
P.S. Yes if i type in manually port (MyNAS IP:8196) in my browser that’s working but i still want to be able to click shortcut icon on QuTS desktop and get it linked/opeend properly to new assigned port.
Hi, do you mean Developer of QNAP or EMBY/Jellyfin ?
I think it happens with every app, (PLEX also) if I want ot change Port Icon doens’t update/reference that change while settings of app clearly allow change of port for obvious reasons.
Yes i tried stopping, waiting 30 sec, starting again but nope icon always want same port number, i even tried de-install Emby, install Jellyfin first, change port and then install Emby but still no go, icon always thinks same Port so i need to change it manually in browser :/.
The icon in the QNAP is basically a link to the web page of the app. There is no “application” that is run. So if something changes in your settings for the port number, it would not surprise me that the icon that is created does not get updated. It’s likely hard coded. This is all educated guesses here, but I think that’s what it is.
I don’t know if there’s a way to update these? Someone else may know more.
Just a thought, start the app, delete the icon, update the port and exit, recreate the icon, the idea being that changes may be written to the new shortcut/icon?
Hi Lewis, if you want to use a port number other than the default, you’ll need to also update the port number for the QTS App Center icon. The info for QPKG icons comes from /etc/config/qpkg.conf
Using a Unix-compatible text editor, load this file and locate the configuration block for Emby, then update the port manually. Refresh your App Center display and the icon will link to the new location.
I’ve not tried any of the text editor QPKGs, but I think they will allow editing of any file on the NAS. They are made to run on the NAS, and each should have a web GUI.
There’s a text editor app associated with File Station, but access to /etc/config isn’t possible in File Station.
If you get stuck, post back and I’ll guide you through the process to edit /etc/config/qpkg.conf via SSH.
