Hi all, I am a NAS user of model TS-X32U-RP, many apps indicating a digital signature expired error on trying update.
I ve checked the questions on this matter and it was proposed to update the firmware and the update of the firmware will solve this issue. But I could not update the firmware neither by QTS web interface nor manualy downloading the update and use in the manual update option. Both trials failed with 2025-08-17 06:29:01 admin 127.0.0.1 Firmware Update Firmware Update [Firmware Update] Failed to install 5.0.1. The digital signature has expired.
many apps indicating a digital signature expired error on trying update.
As I know the digital signature expired will not effect the use of apps, just the system will always notify this…
[Firmware Update] Failed to install 5.0.1. The digital signature has expired.
I guess this means your currently QTS version is 5.0.0 or earlier?
The X32U should can be installed the latest QTS 5.2.6 but I am not sure if it can upgrade directly or there is a limitation require upgrade to QTS 5.0.0 → QTS 5.1.0 → QTS 5.2.0 step by step.
I recommend to open a support ticket to let the support team to clarify the situation and help you for the upgrade.
That is what worked for me for my TS-451+ when upgrading to 5.2.5.3145 build 20250526 (and not 5.2.6.3195 build 20250715 after reading the comments about that firmware) from 4.5.4.2790 build 20240605.
What did you end up doing? I have a TS-253Be and am also on 4.5.4.2790. The apps are so old I am getting digital signature expired errors for them. I can’t update them because the new versions won’t run on the old QTS 4.
I was told by Jeff at QNAP technical support on the phone today to update through the Control Panel Firmware Update Live Update tab so that the firmware will update incrementally. The first version available was 5.0.1.2425 Build 20230609. The update failed and the error said the digital signature expired. “Failed to install 5.0.1. The digital signature has expired.”
I submitted a Support Ticket and I asked if I should use the Live Update tab, and if a version fails, then download the file for that version and update manually through the Firmware Update tab. But it sounds like you’ve already tried that and it didn’t work either.
