Disk migration from TS-453 to TS-464 - cannot log into new NAS

Hi all, I’ve been using QNAP for 11 years but new to this Community.

My 453 died and I’ve put the disks into the 464.

I have updated to the latest firmware (QTS)

The 464 detected QNAP signatures on the old discs and appeared to go through a process of installing the previous images so data would be retained.

After it restarted the TS-464 appeared on my router and in Qfinder Pro with a new IP address let’s call it .180 rather than .221 for the old NAS.

However it did not reach the stage of asking for my ID and password. Rather it said the IP has changed or Microsoft Networking is not enabled on the NAS - If I can’t access the NAS there is not much I can there ?

Trying to load QTS from a browser results in unable to access.

Trying to log in via Qfinder Pro with my Personal ID yields Login Failed, similar with the old Admin ID.

I tried the cloud install method but that didn’t work

I tried admin with the Cloud ID and the MAC1 address and that did not work.

I tried the 3 second reset method but no luck either.

I’ve rebooted the NAS and the router - no luck.

What else can I try ? The 10 second reset?

Is the change of IP a problem? Do I need a static lease?

Logging into a new NAS with existing data discs using admin and the MAC1 addreess seems to me a security risk x I could access anyone’s disk data.

Thanks in advance everyone

I do not have a decent back for some of the data so would like to retain

If you do a 3 second reset, the new admin password would be the cloudkey (depending on your firmware version)

Can you login now ?

I’ve nearly got there (I think) then we had a power black out.

Current status QNAP is registered to MyQNAPCloud

Hard Drives with QNAP Signature detected - load the curent system

Device will load and restart - OK

Restarted

“The device owner has restricted anonymous access” - I changed this to Public on the QNAP Cloud

DDNS services are not enabled on your device.

MyQNAPCloud link disabled

Tried all of those and refused to connect.

Tried to do the Cloud install again but it won’t accept the 8 digit number

I just pressed Reset (which was fiddly) it didnt restart and it went to the login page.

All good but not a great experience

Hi mate, I had to remove your screenshot as it showed a public IP address - presumably yours.

For your own safety, posting your public IP is discouraged on this forum.

Not sure what you are trying to do up there..but allowing public access to your NAS seems wrong.

You do not need any QNAPcloud access to setup your NAS

Also, get a UPS for your NAS (NAS hate sudden power losses and tend to break that way)

Cheers. I got it sorted. I still had my old dead NAS registered so removed that.

Perhaps the restart of the tech after the power outage helped as well.

All good

We recommend that after you finish, you reinstall the TS-464 firmware to complete the system calibration. Thanks!
