Does QNAP Support Bare Metal Backup and Recovery?

Hello QNAP Team and Community,

I would like to ask whether QNAP NAS supports Bare Metal Backup and Recovery for physical servers or PCs.

I want to know:

  • Can QNAP perform full system image backup (OS, applications, settings, and data)?

  • Is it possible to restore the entire system to new hardware or after system failure?

  • Which QNAP applications or solutions support this feature? (Hybrid Backup Sync, Hyper Data Protector, third-party software, etc.)

  • Does it support Windows Server, Linux, or VMware/Hyper-V environments?

If anyone has experience implementing bare metal backup using QNAP, please share your recommendations and best practices.

Bare Metal Backup kann only use with extern Software. In this case QNAP kann only use as Storage for Veeam etc.

There is no bare metal backup for a QNAP. I wish there was.

You can use any 3rd party tool for that e.g. Veeam (QNAP as storage, even supports official veeam object storage, if your NAS is compatible)

Bare metal backup for the NAS itself is not supported.
