Kicking myself here because I’ve locked myself out of my new NAS.
Then I thought, hang on, OK I’ve made a silly mistake but wait a minute, what stupidity is it to allow 2FA set be switched on for a user (in my case the admin account!) whilst there is no SMTP service configured, so it is impossible to complete the 2FA flow, effectively locking yourself out.
I’m mean, come on guys, you didn’t think this through.
So feature request is as per the title. Do NOT allow any account to have 2FA ticked in the Security admin screen if there is no SMTP server enabled. For heaven’s sake, you don’t even issue a warning about this until it’s too late and you’re already locked out.
As it is, I now need to physically go to my off-site NAS and do the 3-second reset. But I’m raising this for all that follow in my footsteps.
