Download Station - Why are downloads in "Inactive" mode?

I’m trying to do some BT downloads in Download Station but everything is showing “Inactive” - how do I get the downloads to start?

Based on my experience with Download Station, a task only shows as Active when it is actually downloading; otherwise, its status remains Inactive, even if the task has already been started.

I’m not sure if this behavior is a bug, but I’ve noticed that when Download Station has been running for a while, newly added tasks often stay Inactive. But if I stop Download Station via the App Center and then restart it, those newly added tasks usually become Active as expected.

I’m getting some downloads to finally work. I wonder if they go inactive because the peer is not online and it waits until the peer comes online. Then it starts downloading.

Here are few cents from my side,

  1. A task will only show “Active” if it is currently downloading data from peers.
  2. If no peers are available (i.e., no seeders or unreachable), the task stays “Inactive” even if it’s queued.
  3. Another reason could be Peer Dependency, the tasks may be “Inactive” because the peer is not online at the moment. Once the peer comes online, the task status changes to “Active” and starts downloading.
