I have a drive tray from a TS-869 and I want to put this into a TVS-EC880. They are both 3.5” drive trays but they look slightly different. Are these drive trays interchangeable?
Maybe or maybe not.
Stick an empty tray into the TVS-EC880. See if you are able to mechanically latch it and if it fits. If it does, then try putting an empty drive in it and repeating.
There’s nothing electrical with the drive trays. If they fit great. If they don’t you will know pretty quickly.
Our initial assessment is that the drive trays for these two models are likely not interchangeable.
The drive trays for the older style TS-869 and similar are different to the newer style EC880. The older style has a lock and the newer style doesn’t. They are different lengths too. From memory, the newer style trays are longer.
When I get home again I can post pics of the trays side by side.
Also, if you are in the UK and need some of the newer style trays I have some spare ones.
