Duplicate / Similar Photo Recognition CPU TPU usage

I have a TS-664 running QTS 5.2.10.3577 with 2x USB Corel Edge TPUs connected. When first installed the TPUs worked for the facial recognition for my photo library but I havn’t added photos in a while and have not kept track if this still worked.

I just did a QTS firmware update and multiple app updates including QNAP AI core and it started doing Duplicate / Similar Photo Recognition, but this process is using my CPU only and is extremely slow.

Both my TPUs under Hardware resources are idle. I just added a new folder of photos and the TPUs went back to active for a while for the Face recognition but then went back to idle before it finished. Could anyone tell me which processes under AI Engines should be using the TPU / GPU or CPU?

Hi @Jimmy as I know, only face / object recognition will use TPU or NPU to accelerate.

The duplicate / similar photo recognition only uses CPU processing, so even if the TPU or NPU is idle, it will not be used.

Thanks for the quick response. Thats unfortunate that it only uses CPU. Is there any chance an option will be made to turn off just the Duplicate / Similar Photo Recognition feature completely? as the only thing I can find anywhere is Pause.

Thanks for your suggestion! I’ll submit it to our internal team for review and analysis.
