Find real/fake duplicates

Hi QNAP team,

Since I have merged documents from different data sources—mainly photos and videos—I now have some duplicates. Some images/videos are “real” duplicates where only the names differ, while others are “false” duplicates—identical content but different resolutions, or identical content but different file formats. Is there a function to delete duplicates or to identify them and filter/delete them based on certain criteria? With AI, this should be easy to solve. This would save a lot of space on the NAS and save me a lot of manual work and time.

There is a cli utility in the MyQNAP.org repo called fdupes that can be used to identify duplicate files. I have used it somewhat and it works pretty well.

I agree though that for pictures and stuff like that, it should be relatively straightforward to identify duplicates.

A million free duplicate file checker utilities out there that handle more than just images and videos.
