Entra ID P1 user management

Good morning, is it possible to synchronise my Entra ID P1 users with the QNAP TS-453D NAS for service management, or am I required to use Azure AD?

Possible, yes, easy no.

First step is you need a Site2Site VPN, outside the QNAP (QVPN3 is not compatible with MS VPN), to let your network talk to MS securely.

Once you do that and have it working, it’s fairly straight forward to do the rest.

Every QANP document simply lists a prerequisite of VPN with zero help on doing that. Most likely because the QNAP can’t do it (really old pre QVPN could).

Hi @emufile ,

Yes, QNAP NAS supports Microsoft Entra Domain Services SSO. After the setup is completed, users can sign in with their Microsoft Entra ID credentials, and you can then manage imported domain users on the NAS, such as shared folder privileges, domain group privileges, and storage quota settings.

Please note that the official QNAP setup requires:

  • a site-to-site VPN connection

  • a Microsoft Entra Domain Services domain

  • and a NAS running QTS 5.2.7 or later or QuTS hero h5.2.7 or later.

QNAP’s official tutorial for reference:
How can I configure Microsoft Entra Domain Services single sign-on for a QNAP NAS?

So in short, this is supported through Microsoft Entra Domain Services / SSO integration, rather than a simple direct user sync from Entra ID P1 alone.
