Error whilst creating the cluster

Hi all.

I have a two QNAP TS-855eU-RP and I would like to set up a fault-tolerant cluster. Although I have connected them to each other via a direct fibre-optic link, I get an ‘The heartbeat connection requires a direct connection between the two devices’ error when creating the cluster.

I’m doing everything in accordance with the official documentation; the heartbeat link is up, and IP addresses are being assigned via DHCP; they’re currently in the 169.254.0.0 subnet. The firmware is up to date (QuTS Hero h6.0.0.3500), and the manager app has also been updated (v 2.0.421).

I haven’t installed the firewall yet. And by the way, the pings are working between the heartbeat interface addresses.
Can you help me figure out why it doesn’t like my direct connection?

I think, IP Range must be 192.168.xxx. oer 10.10.xxx

Yeah, that is normally an IP for network adapters that are set to DHCP but cannot find a DHCP server (Link Local address)

Well, I’ve sorted it out. It turns out that HAManager identifies passive nodes using the standard QFinder mechanism. I’d disabled this feature for security reasons. To set up the cluster, I had to enable it.
