External acces to .myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=

Hello Everyone,

I made a share on my Qnap, it’s like xxx.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi?ssid=xxxxxx. But, this URL doesn’t work outside my home.

On my NAS, I have UPnP working. In myQNAPcloud app, Secure Web Server is OK with ports to 8081 for internal and 8083 for external. On my box (Livebox 5), I have the same parameters in the UPnP tab. On the DDNS tab of myQNAPcloud app, there are an IPV4 address and an IPV6 address but when I test ports redirection, the Secure Web Server is ok on port 8083 for IPV4 but not for IPV6.

I this why my share link does not work outside my home ? How do I do to my share link works out of my home ?

Thank you for your answer.

Make sure you disable upnp and manual port forwards..never ever ever ever expose your NAS to WAN!

If you cannot afford a service like onedrive or dropbox, you can use cloudlink relay service to share files

Agree with @dolbyman - Turn off UPNP, disable port forwarding! Very, very, very risky.

If you want to share a file with someone outside your network use the smart share feature in the sharing link creation.

1.) Make sure you are logged into MyQNAPCloud
2.) When creating the share link, first select “Create Share Link Only.” Then, select “SmartShare”

This gives you a share link that puts QNAPs servers as a proxy between your NAS and the outside world. Anyone downloading the file never has direct access of any kind to your NAS.

Thank you. It works with SmartShare.
