Feature request -
Several APPS (even some for small amount of clients) are available.
But please consider a MQTT broker, which would be the typical 24/7 App for nowedays IOT. (Avoidance action I see currently is to use external ones by many people… as they dont like to deal with docker…)
So, therefore request a MQTT broker as a QNAP APP … Sourcecode available…
e.g. Mosquitto…

Hi Simon,
Thanks, but as said… most customer using QNAP NAS try to avoid difficulties… (also risks…)
Therefore to have it under the quality control of QNAP would be the best option… which means an app from QNAPs store…
There is no difficulties in using anything from myqnap.org - it is run by a staff member of QNAP (france) in his spare time. also he has a discord server for any issues you may have and will fix them quicker than QNAP “official” support would do.
but good luck with waiting for an official app, that might never happen however.
Also if your NAS (unknown model) supports Container station then use this for Mosquitto. this package will be far more up to date than any qpkg released by QNAP
Thats why I was asking for If there would be hundred of customer requests… it would be helpful…
The package that appears in QNAP App Store are usually from:
- QNAP in-house development
- Partners that signed some collaboration contracts that can take formal response if the package has any issues.
Otherwise, it will not be listed. In your case, I don’t think the maintainer of Mosquito MQTT will sign a maintenance contract with QNAP, so it might become a long story.
But yeah, more than hundreds of requests (and purchase ) may change the manager’s mind to make it formal support.
This is not because QNAP is snobbery, but to maintain and verify those packages also requires people - and people always cost.
