I want to know if there are plans to update the firmware to go to sleep mode when not in use. At least make it so that it can be toggled in the External RAID manager. I am using this for back up and don’t need it running all the time. I have a Windows 11 system, and noticed it suspends when I turn off the computer so I know it can do it. But I don’t want it running constantly wasting power.
Hi there
Though some staff do frequent these forums (not tech support) I would strongly advise you to raise a ticket with Qnap Support rather than rely on someone reading your post and acting on the request in the community forums.
OK, I’ll do that. thank you.
The Manual states the following however:
do you have something accessing the TR-004 all the time from the NAS or another PC perhaps?
Have you mapped a drive from your PC to the TR-004 perhaps?
Hi,
More a suggestion here than a fix.
I have two TS-453 Pro NAS units where one is set to auto power on once a week to allow the Primary QNAP NAS to use HBS backup across to the secondary unit.
The primary unit is always being accessed, Windows SMB shares, photo uploading and indexing, PLEX server etc.
So, in essence my Primary NAS is always in use. The secondary NAS backup unit has none of these services running and is powered off for 95% of the week.
It has worked well for years.
not even sure that this suggestion is infact that… The OP has two DAS units that work completely differently than QTS NAS’s
