I have a problem with one of my previous posts… Specifically, I’d like to delete it (which I’ve done with a couple of others, but this one remains visible).
The reason for this post, however, is to just flag up for consideration that there does not seem to be anywhere on this Community site for “getting help”. There’s an FAQ section, but if that doesn’t cover your issue, you’re out of luck.
There’s nowhere to report bugs or issues with the platform itself [like not being able to delete posts, for example].
I suspect that this is a request for the administrators, not simply moderators, but I’d like to suggest that it would be extremely helpful if there were a thread or channel here where we could flag issues with the community portal please.
You likely do not have a high enough rank yet in the community to delete posts. You’ll get there.
Bug reports should really be filed using service tickets. This is not an “official” QNAP help channel, but QNAP staff do come here anyhow and help. I do wish they would communicate more clearly with the “official" channels but right now they don’t.
DolbyMan, thanks for responding and for the kind offer.
As it happens, I think the problem just solved itself. Perhaps there is some kind of restriction on me because I’m a new user?
Anyway, I went back to my posts to find the offending one and… it was no longer showing. Very odd, as it was stubbornly refusing to go when I put the first post in this thread last night.
Oh and if you’re interested, here’s a link to the all-new thread that I was trying to edit. Please note this one is now “all good” [unless you spot any mistakes….]:-
@sproggit - How did you get around the limit of posts you can make on a topic? I had one where it wouldn’t let me post any more consecutive posts. Maybe it was because I didn’t create it in the first place?
That’s a great question, but I’m afraid I can’t give you a definitive answer as I didn’t really hit a limit that I needed to try and work around.
That how-to guide was close to the first thing I’ve tried to post here and so the first couple of entries were my very first posts on the site. As a result, I did hit some problems with embedded URLs. I wrote the guide off-line in LibreOffice Writer and then simply copied-and-pasted it in to an edit window. It took all my formatting [making a small number of transcription errors] and embedded links without me really having to do much of anything.
But in the first couple of posts I did get a warning telling me that I didn’t have the ability to post links. I had to go back and edit those in once I’d accrued the permissions to do so.
I didn’t really hit any other issues.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful other than to suggest you should keep contributing and maybe you’ll unlock that ability…
