  • High Availability (HA): With the new HA Manager, two NAS units can form an active-passive cluster. If the primary host fails, the standby unit takes over in seconds, ensuring zero service downtime.

  • Immutable Snapshots: Combat ransomware effectively. This feature supports “Write Once, Read Many” (WORM) protection for a set period, preventing snapshots from being modified or deleted to create an unbreakable defense for your core data.

  • Qtier Support for ZFS: For the first time, ZFS storage pools can leverage auto-tiering. Seamlessly balance the high speed of SSDs with the high capacity of HDDs for smarter performance allocation.

  • Comprehensive Security Hardening: Supports FIDO2 passwordless login and Hardware Secure Boot, providing multi-layered protection for your digital assets.

New Feature Test Results (QuTS hero h6.0 Beta)

ZFS Management Interface

  • The status information display for Pool and Dataset is more comprehensive than previous versions, including health status and usage details.

  • Scrub execution status and disk health-related notifications are more centralized, improving recognition.

Performance Observation

  • Under the same hardware and disk configuration, sequential read/write performance shows no significant difference compared to QuTS hero h5.x versions.

  • In scenarios involving large-scale small file access tests, metadata operation response times show slight improvement, but further testing and data validation are needed.

III. Deployment Recommendations

  • QuTS hero h6.0 is currently in Beta; it is recommended for use only in testing or validation environments.

  • Suitable for the following testing and evaluation purposes:

    • Verifying ZFS operation with USB DAS (TR-004)

    • Evaluating the feasibility of using TR-004 as a backup solution or secondary storage pool

  • When using ZFS with TR-004 in a test environment:

    • It is recommended to use RAID 5 or RAID 6 to enhance fault tolerance.

    • System memory configuration should consider ZFS ARC requirements, as memory resources have a significant impact on performance.

IV. Bug and Abnormal Behavior Observations

  • Occasional situations:

    • After system reboot, the initialization status display of disks belonging to TR-004 may be delayed, returning to normal after about 1–2 minutes.
  • Observations during the testing period:

    • This situation did not affect data integrity.

    • Storage Pool and Dataset could eventually be mounted and accessed normally.

  • Recommendations:

    • It is recommended to provide clearer DAS initialization progress or status notifications in the system interface to reduce the possibility of users misjudging it as an abnormal situation.

V. Summary

In the test environment, TR-004 with QuTS hero h6.0 Beta operates normally, and the ZFS management interface and information presentation have been adjusted. Overall stability is acceptable, but it is still recommended to continue monitoring subsequent version updates. After the official release and accumulation of more real-world cases, evaluate the feasibility of deploying in a production environment.

Please post in English. Thank you very much.

Hello,
I would have loved to join the QuTS hero h6.0 Beta adventure… but my poor TS‑233 looked at the requirements, looked at me, and basically said:
“Nope. Not today.”
Turns out my NAS isn’t compatible — it’s doing its best, but it’s more little engine that could than enterprise ZFS war machine.
Congrats in advance to the future winner! Enjoy the shiny new features, the HA magic, and all the ZFS wizardry.
And hey… if I ever upgrade my TS‑233, I’m staying in the QNAP family. Loyalty is loyalty.
Cheers,
MartinQNAP

Used for a few days, everything perfect and good new features, only one problem with the Nvidia.

I have ever using Synology as long time before but I can’t see the Harddisk alert email function in them. Now I have using new Qnap with see this function for helpful my manage everyday.

I will like so mush winning one

I’ve been testing QuTS hero h6.0 Beta in a lab environment and wanted to share some quick feedback from an IT infrastructure perspective.

  • Overall UI responsiveness feels smoother than previous h5.x builds, especially when background ZFS tasks like snapshots and replication are running.

  • The new High Availability (HA) Manager looks promising; failover behavior is noticeably faster and more predictable, which is critical for production-style workloads.

  • Immutable snapshots (WORM) are a big plus from a ransomware and compliance standpoint, as they add another layer of protection on top of regular backup strategies.

  • Qtier for ZFS is very interesting in mixed SSD/HDD setups and seems well-suited for balancing performance and capacity in SMB environments.

So far, stability has been good in testing, but I’ll keep pushing it with heavier workloads and will share more detailed results (including any bugs or edge cases) after longer runtime. Overall, h6.0 Beta feels like a solid step forward for business and enterprise use.

I’ve been running the new QuTS h6.0 on my QNAP TS-264 NAS for about a week now, and I have to say the improvement in the web interface performance is very noticeable.
Previously, the browser UI would sometimes fail to load completely or freeze. With the new version, everything feels much faster and more responsive.
I’m curious to see how future licensing policies will evolve, as changes like these often come with increased monetization pressure. So far, however, I haven’t experienced anything negative in that regard.

Nice UI and new Features!

Trying to get confirmation from QNAP what languages for this contest are acceptable.

I’ve given up. It’s everyone coming out of the woodwork for their chance to win a free NAS!

After upgrading my TS-h973AX to h6.0 Beta, here are my initial thoughts.

Advantages:

  1. Improved interface smoothness
  2. FileStation finally doesn’t keep loading endlessly
  3. Better performance when transferring files between storage devices

Disadvantages/Issues Encountered:

  1. Some apps do not support h6.0 Beta
  2. During the ACL 2.0 upgrade process, my main backup shared folder was stuck for a week and couldn’t complete
In the end, I had to delete and recreate the entire storage pool to resolve the issue

Wishlist for Improvements (long-standing annoying issues):

  1. Notification Center is very difficult to use and annoying. For example, even after setting up and completing scheduled security scans, there are still issues in Notification Center about something not being enabled, and it insists on sending notifications every week. Notifications are meant to alert users only when necessary; if unimportant rules cause users to become numb to notifications, that’s not a good thing.
  2. After logging in via web browser, if you leave it idle for too long, you’ll be forcibly logged out, even if you selected “Remember Me” during login.
  3. Containers are really hard to use.
  4. The overall UI friendliness still doesn’t match competitors. I hope this can continue to be improved.

I’ve been running the beta for about 3 weeks on a TVS-H874 with hardly any issues. The only annoying thing is that the web interface works fine on Chrome or Edge on a Windows 11 PC, but I can’t access it on a Samsung tablet or smartphone using any browser. After entering my credentials it’s stuck on “Loading…”. Not a dealbreaker, because the QManager app works. Just something I’d love to see fixed in the next release.

About new features are very useful for me!

I am currently running a TVS-h874X on QuTS hero h6.0 Beta as the central hub for my home data and remote access for my children at college. It hosts over 20 years of family photos, a massive media library, and documents. While the 6.0 Beta has proven stable and user-friendly, my ultimate goal is to replace all third-party cloud storage services. QNAP’s recent updates have confirmed I made the right choice for this transition. My next adventure involves installing a GPU to leverage QNAP’s AI features for smarter data management and adding a second NAS to my local backup strategy.

I will close this topic for now as people are still posting in here, instead of opening a contest eligible new topic
