Have I got the right gear?

Hi everyone.
As a very inexperienced newbie, I would like some advice, if possible, regarding my kit.

I have bought a Qnap TR-0094 to build a NAS with 4xSeagate 4Gb Iron Wolf HDD’s. From reading various posts, I’m wondering whether my TRR-004 will do want I want. I plan to keep photos, movies, music etc which will be available to anyone in my house 9no thoughts about internet connections yet).
If I have indeed made an error, I would be grateful for any advice given, as I can return the enclosure if necessary.
Thanks in anticipation.

Pete

Yes, you bought wrong. The TR-004 is a DAS not a NAS, so you can only connect it to one computer via USB.

Return it and seek out a NAS

OK, thanks for the swift response. do you have any suggestions for an entry level NAS for home use?

Thanks again!

Pete

Sorry to be a pain. Would TS-462-4G fit the bill?
Thanks for any comments, even rude ones…

Sure any NAS would work, a x86 NAS (like the Celeron powered TS-462) has a bit of added features as in full container and even Virtualisation support. (Compared to am ARM model like a TS-433 for instance)

Really appreciate your advice-thanks!

Have ordered the TS-462 so hopefully I can get set up in the next couple of days.
